Quand maman sourit

Lucienne is an only child. When her parents tell her she’ll soon be a big sister, everything changes! But when her brother is born, she feels alone: the baby keeps her mother and father busy day and night. It’s as if there’s suddenly no room for her in this new life as a foursome. And now when her mother smiles, Lucienne doesn’t buy it: where has the cheerfulness gone, the one that would light up her face and make her eyes shine bright?

Narrated by a cheerful little girl who has become an older sister despite her best intentions, this lively text invites its young audience to allow space to change and explore the emotions that accompany it. From familial upheavals caused by the arrival of a second child to the acknowledgement of others, L’UniThéâtre offers us an enlightened vision of what it means to grow up.
